Advanced Space Sig Tutorial by Sunjo Advanced Space Sig Tutorial by Sunjo
Ok, so I realized I never uploaded this one to dA.

This is a very old space signature tutorial I made specifically for the mAsDesigns community, but seeing as I closed that a while back I'll submit it here too.

This one became the most popular tutorial to ever hit proboards, peaking at 135k+ views.

I hope someone learns something from it, and I hope to also see it become popular here too. =)

The process at the beggining of step 7) between the first nd 2nd substep is the most important point on all this nd all your wrote is "now i clone stamped the nebula more, darkened some sports as well." nah mate doesn t work like that...make it useful, or leave it ffs.

Ok, Thanks for this. In the end I put the sun in the middle. Feathering was not doing anything, even if I set it to 100px.

Sorry to bother you again, but the nebula is real trouble for me. Basicly, I have done what you said and it worked pretty well. Problem is, when I paste it into the actual sig it looks awful. It doesnt blend in, the outline is very obvious compared to the space background. When I look at yours, it fades into the space but mine is just a distinct cloud right in the middle. Any advice?

Before you move the nebula into the sig, make sure you feather your nebula selection. (right click inside selection>feather), if it's still not blending, feather it more.

When I put my cloud stocks to Overlay, I cant even see them. What am I doing wrong?

You're either using too many stocks, or your stocks are too dark. If all else fails just set them to normal and make them all 40% opacity except the bottom-most layer.

Oh, wow! I love the nebula effect, it's wonderful! I was reading through the tutorial, and I was kinda thinking "Ach, I think the space BG is boring...I could do that part better." Then I saw the nebula. Wow! Amazingly good. I love the text, too. :D - 3D

Thanks for the clipping and grouping part!
I could never figure out how to get rid of the atmosphere glow without messing up the layer and only being able to have the shadow at 100% OP! =P

Hey, you know the part where it says about going into blending options with the colour overlay on the black planet, for some reason, the levels make it stay just like a dark blue background without 'stars'.

Any idea how to fix it?

Nevermind, fixed it. Just changed the noise to monochrome.

Great tutorial! Thank you for making it!

Would you have any tips for making more earthly styled planets? (IE, with land/cloud/sea masses, not just plain rock textures?) I know it would mostly just be using a different texture for the first steps, but would you have any suggestions on specific kinds of textures that would be best?

Thanks for the comment. :)

Here's a few earth-like textures:

Using any of those instead of the one I gave while following the rest of the steps should give you an earth-like planet, just make sure you don't desaturate the texture in step 10.

The part where you have to create a new layer and then erase the middle of the nebula can you explain more?

See thats where there is a problem, because when he told me to do The Blending options it wouldn't let me on the 'Basckground' Layer cos it was locked :s

It shouldn't be locked on a new document. Just click the lock icon on the layers panel to unlock it.. or create a new layer and repeat the step.
